As we have expanded our reviews to give or readers other eating and relaxing on a nice sunny Sunday suggestions while in Thailand, we have been inundated with requests about the Sunday brunches.

This seems to be what ex-pats and Thais most want to do at the end of the week. Here are a few places that we certainly recommend. They are all fantastic places to enjoy a Sunday and in this review, we simply point out the differences in each. They are only in the order that we tried them but we are happy to recommend all 3 to our readers.

INDIGO PEARL
Indigo pearl is the best known and attended brunch in Phuket. They have a strong reputation and with their free-flow strategy, the party crew heads up there on Sunday. The brunch also draws a large number of Thai residents so the brunch is probably the best varied crowd from all the offerings. They have an ample selection of wonderful dishes, sushi, barbequed meat, Indian food offerings like tandoori and Jack Yoss also has some unique items he prepares for the occasion. The venue is also special in its design with the Bill Bensley designed restaurant playing host. The service is good and the guest groupings vary from tables of 2 to tables of 20 so you never know who you will run into. Free flow is certainly one reason for a percentage of guests while others simply sip a glass or two. There is abundant food and drink for all.

BREEZE
Chef extraordinaire Cheryl Johnson does a different type of brunch from the rest of the island. All the guests, limited to 20, sit at one long table and partake of the communal offerings. During the course of the brunch, plates and plates of specially designed food comes out of the kitchen and you choose what you want and pass the plate on. you share some conversation with other guests and drink some lovely wine from the owners private vineyard. The focus is on a communal event and for those who are more social and don’t need a separate table, this is the perfect brunch for you.  The food selections will leave anyone who actually enjoys food happy. Each week what is served changes dramatically to represent the mood of the day as well as the mood of Cheryl herself but when enjoying the food, you realize that the food is matching the day and is a perfect fit for that moment. Give it a try!

BLISS BEACH CLUB
Bliss Beach club now has begun a Barbeque based brunch that balances interesting offerings like rock lobster, sausage, steak and hamburgers with the music to Sound wave Sundays. They are a perfect combination. For those who prefer a chilled out Sunday experience, this offering is perfect for you. The rock lobster is a must try- and all the offerings are relaxed enough that you feel you can go for a swim while you eat and drink. Bliss offers a pool as well as a wide open beach. Instead of getting dressed up for brunch, throw the swim suit on and head down there for the afternoon.
