As we have expanded our reviews to give or readers other suggestions while in Thailand, we have been inundated with requests about the Sunday brunches. This seems to be what ex-pats and well-heeled Thais most want to do at the end of the week. Here are a few places that we certainly recommend. They are all fantastic places to enjoy a Sunday and we simply point out the differences in each. They are only in the order that we tried them but we are happy to recommend all 3
EEST RESTAURANT at THE WESTIN
A wonderful brunch in a lovely setting is the way I described it as we had just finished. The Westin resort is located on the east coast of Phuket, near Phuket town and has commanding views over the surrounding bays. Getting there will provide some interest as you reach Siray Island. The brunch provides a generous collection of all the items that brunch goers have come to expect from 5 star Phuket brunches. They have a barbeque with made to order meats, sausages and fish as well as pastas, cheeses, Thai dishes and many, many other items. You will certainly have plenty to keep you amused for 3 hour brunch time and you will appreciate the quality of the offerings. The setting is very nice, comfortable and lounging by the pool after finishing your big meal is encouraged. All in all it is a very relaxing and pleasant afternoon. Included in the price is a bottle of wine for 2 if that is what you prefer. We certainly recommend this brunch.
Each of the 3 options in this review are different but each are good. Chef Daniel has the more price effective segment cornered. Located in Cherngtalay near municipal hall, chef Daniel offers some delicious and very well priced menu items that can then go along with all you can drink sangria and bloody Maries for a great low price that only reaches 500 baht. His food as always is fantastic and you get it all for a very nice price. His offering is called the Rock & roll brunch in honor of the fact that during his career he was a personal chef for various well known musicians. Expect to be treated just as well at his gastro pub as they were. You will not be disappointed with items such as unique version of Eggs Benedict as well as the rock and roll steak and eggs. The choices are ample and simply delicious. The bloody Mary’s and the sangria is perfect for a Sunday afternoon as well. You will have some nice people to share it with as well. Check it out.
This is the most established brunch on the island and maintains the Twin Palms group standard quality. Located on Surin beach at the resort, this is probably going to be the most social of the 3 reviews as you certainly will run into some friends here and this brunch is generally sold out. The selection is ample, with many different options on offer including a variety of fish plates, roasts and the best cheese selection on the island. Be sure to head down to the beach afterwards for a swim but of course, wait 45 minutes. As any expert Thailand brunch goer would tell you, stay away from the starchy stuff, there is way too much great food to try, so keep your portions small and enjoy the company. This brunch is also accompanied by some nice wine selections and usually comes by the bottle for 2 people. Another place we are happy to recommend.
